ABADID 14...Smilers

I noticed last year that The Royal Mail shop online sold Smilers which are personalised 'stamps' to accompany regular 1st, 2nd or International class postage stamps. So, to use with my December giveaway of hand drawn cards I thought bloowabbit Smilers would look good on the envelopes.

The site suggests using a photograph of smiling people but I personalised the Smiler with a cropped photograph of an artwork. A blue haired figure against a snowy background. Big eyes, tiny nose.

2nd class stamps cost 73p each and the Smilers 2nd class stamps with personalised sticker cost £1.02 each so the Smilers cost 29p each which is expensive in the world of sticker making, however they do look like stamps and have that crenulated edge. It's Christmas and yes, I splashed out just to have my art on my envelopes.

To order Smilers you need to select the stamp value and click Personalise. Then upload your personal image by clicking the icon. Click upload on the new page and press select which will show you what how your image fits on the rectangular Smilers shape. You can go back and choose to edit your image - I found it easier to alter the shape of my image BEFORE uploading to the Smilers page.

When you're happy press Save and Continue. Double check how many sheets you want and add to basket. Postage/shipping within UK is an additional £1.45.

When the Smilers arrived, which took six working days, they were packed in an A4 envelope strengthened with two sheets of card and an acetate cover. Impressed. The quality is excellent, true colours to my original uploaded image and each Smiler is attached to a stamp. I'm off to post some cards...
